BORN IN LONDON, SUE GOUGH WAS EDUCATED AT ONE OF THE PROGRESSIVE GIRLS’ SCHOOLS FOUNDED BY THE SUFFRAGETTES. SHE CAME TO AUSTRALIA AS A “TEN-POUND MIGRANT” IN THE SIXTIES, AND LIVED IN MELBOURNE, SYDNEY, CANBERRA AND TOWNSVILLE BEFORE MOVING TO BRISBANE. SHE HAS WORKED AS AN EDITOR AND WRITER, THEATRE CRITIC, PUBLICIST AND MARRIAGE GUIDANCE COUNSELLOR. SHE IS CURRENTLY A MEMBER OF THE BOARD OF THE QUEENSLAND STATE LIBRARY. A LONG WAY TO TIPPERARY (1992), SUE GOUGH’S FIRST NOVEL, WAS CHOSEN AS AN HONOUR BOOK IN THE CBC CHILDREN’S BOOK OF THE YEAR AWARDS FOR OLDER READERS (1993). WYRD (1993) WAS HER SECOND NOVEL FOR YOUNG ADULTS. HERE COMES THE NIGHT IS HER LATEST NOVEL (1997). SUE GOUGH LOVES TO TRAVEL AND HAS LIVED IN SUCH EXOTIC LOCATIONS AS THE PACIFIC, BORNEO AND BHUTAN.
