Lily Brett is an award-winning writer of novels, poetry and short stories. Born in Germany, Lily came to Melbourne with her parents in 1948. Her first book, The Auschwitz Poems, won the 1987 Victorian Premier’s Award for poetry, and was shortlisted for the Age Book of the Year. Her second book, Poland and Other Poems was published in 1987 and her third, After the War, was shortlisted for the 1990 Victorian Premier’s Award for Poetry. Her first collection of fiction, Things Could be Worse (1990), was shortlisted for the NSW Premier’s Award for Fiction. She also is the author of a book of essays, In Full View, and her most recent novel, Too Many Men, is receiving widespread critical acclaim. Lily Brett is married to David Rankin and they currently live in New York. UQP published Collected Stories in 1999, bringing together two brilliant sequences of Lily\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'s stories.
