Nike Bourke won the Queensland Premier's Literary Award for Best Emerging Author in 2000 for her novel The Bone Flute. She has a Ph.D from Griffith University, and teaches Creative Writing at the Queensland University of Technology. Nike lives in Brisbane with her four children. Her first children's book, What the Sky Knows, was published in May 2005.
