Larissa Behrendt
Author Biography
Larissa Behrendt is a Professor of Law and Director of the Jumbunna Indigenous House of Learning at the University of Technology Sydney, who completed a Master of Laws and a Doctorate at Harvard Law School in 1994 and 1998. She is a member of the Eualeyai/Kamilaroi nations of north-west New South Wales and in 2009 was named the NAIDOC Indigenous Person of the Year. Her first novel, Home, was the winner of the 2002 David Unaipon Award for Indigenous Writers and also won the Commonwealth Writers' Prize for Best First Book (South-East Asia/Pacific region). Her second book, Legacy is a compelling novel about fathers and daughters, the destructive force of anger and the redemptive power of forgiveness on individuals, families and societies.
