Sue Abbey has managed UQP's Black Australian Writing Series since its beginning in l990, and also co-ordinates the David Unaipon Award. She trained as an editor at UQP where she began in 1981, and from 1988-2002 managed the poetry list as UQP's Poetry Editor. As Senior Editor and publisher of the Black Australian Writing list, she has worked with emerging and established authors across every genre.

Sue is the co-editor of \\\"Fresh Cuttings\\\", UQP's first BAW anthology.
Michael Ackland teaches in the English Department at Monash University in Melbourne. He gained his PhD from the Australian National University and has also spent time at universities in the United States and Germany. The author of three books of Australian Poetry and Prose - Charles Harpur: Selected Poetry and Prose, Henry Kendall and A Sydney Sovereign - Michael has also contributed to the Penguin Book of Nineteenth Century Australian Literature, and has written many articles for literary journals.
SUSAN ADDISON has worked as a journalist and editor in Brisbane, London and Papua New Guinea, recording and polishing the stories of other people. The imperative to tell her own stories came with Charlie's death in 1995. The writing and editing skills she taught at tertiary level have been applied to the crafting of these life-affirming stories, which tap our shared human experience of love, loss and grief.
