  1. I have submitted a manuscript to UQP, but have not received any answer.

    UQP only accepts submissions through agents, apart from in the following areas:

    Children's and Young Adult Fiction:
    • Novels for younger readers, 8-11 years (10,000-20,000 words)
    • Novels for young readers, 9-13 years (30,000 words)
    • Novels for young adults, 12-17 years (40,000-60,000 words)





    Academic Writing
    • on Australian History, Biography, Politics and Current Affairs, Indigenous issues


    Due to the large number of submissions we receive, we are unable to acknowledge receipt of your submission. If you submitted a manuscript that does not fit into these categories, you will not receive a reply and your submission will not be returned.
    As we are a small publishing house with limited resources we are unable to answer all submission enquiries. If you have submitted a manuscript and have not heard from us within 6 months of submission, your manuscript was unacceptable to us based on the above terms and will not be returned.
    An average reading takes between 4-6 months.

  2. Can you recommend an agent for my manuscript?

    To avoid conflicts of interest, UQP does not recommend any specific agents. The APA (Australian Publishers Association) website http://www.publishers.asn.au/ is an excellent source of advice on getting published and lists the agents recognised by Australian publishers. Try to find an agent who specialises in the kind of book you are trying to publish.

    Sorry, no. We do not accept unsolicited queries via e-mail or otherwise.

  5. How do I submit my manuscript to UQP?

    UQP only accepts unsolicited submissions in the following areas:

    Children's and Young Adult Fiction:

    • Novels for young readers, 9-13 years (30,000 words)
    • Novels for young adults, 12-17 years (40,000-60,000 words)

    All submissions must include the following:
    • Covering letter
    • Author biography/CV (including information about previous publications)
    • Brief synopsis (include details of target market) or chapter summary
    • 3-4 sample chapters as hard copy, double spaced and single-sided
    • Numbered pages
    • Include stamped, self addressed envelope for the return of your submission.








    (All unsuccessful manuscripts not accompanied by self addressed, stamped envelope are destroyed four weeks after the letter is sent from UQP.)

    Please ensure that you keep a copy of your manuscript and do not send original artwork or photographs. We cannot accept responsibility for loss or damage of unsolicited manuscripts, artwork or photographs received.

    Due to the large volume of unsolicited manuscripts UQP receives, we are unable to acknowledge receipt of your submission.

    UQP Does not accept any other writing not represented by an agent.
