Addison, Susan

SUSAN ADDISON has worked as a journalist and editor in Brisbane, London and Papua New Guinea, recording and polishing the stories of other people. The imperative to tell her own stories came with Charlie’s death in 1995. The writing and editing skills she taught at tertiary level have been applied to the crafting of these life-affirming stories, which tap our shared human experience of love, loss and grief. As co-author of A Good Plain Cook: An Edible History of Queensland (Queensland Museum, 1999), she developed an appetite for food history, and the tastes and smells of the kitchen suffuse these warm and compassionate stories.<#InMedia#><#AuthorVideo#><#AuthorWebsite#><#AuthorTwitter#><#AuthorFaceBook#>

Picture of Mother Lode: Stories Of Home Life And Home Death
These are beautiful stories, skilfully written - emotionally wrenching at times but with plenty of humour. A book about death and families that is wise and strong and life-affirming. Mother Lode offers comfort and hope to anyone trying to cope with the dying of a loved one. Susan Addison is a wonderfully strong and gentle person, whose insights are inspiring.
