Dobson, Jill

Jill Dobson was born in Yorkshire, UK in 1969. In 1974 she moved to Australia with her family and settled in Albury. She wrote her first published novel, The Inheritors (UQP 1988) while at Albury High School. She attended the University of Melbourne (BA Hons, BLitt) where she studied history and languages, then travelled to Japan where she spent two years teaching and studying. Time to Go, her second novel, was published by UQP in 1991. Jill completed a Masters in International Relations at the ANU in1996 and worked for two years with the Department of Defence. In 1999 she left Australia again and went to the UK via Moscow, where she spent four months working as a copyeditor for the Moscow Times. Jill currently lives in London, where she works as an assistant editor for the International Institute for Strategic Studies. Her first fantasy novel, A Journey to Distant Mountains (UQP 2001), is the first in a planned trilogy.
