Brown, Elaine

Elaine Brown grew up in Toowoomba and Maryborough, Queensland, absorbing her parents’ fascination for local history. Retiring after thirty-five years as a high school teacher, she completed her Masters degree in History. This formed the base for her book, Cooloola Coast: Noosa to Fraser Island: The Aboriginal and settler histories of a unique environment, which was published by UQP in 2000. Elaine is currently researching the life of the sawmiller William Pettigrew for a PhD at the University of Queensland. Elaine and her husband live on their farm at Wolvi, near Gympie. They have two adult sons.
