Thorpe, Bill

Bill Thorpe was born in Newcastle and lived in Sydney where he worked as a graphic artist for a number of years. He later moved to Brisbane and studied at the University of Queensland where he obtained an honours degree and a doctorate in history. He has published in the areas of industrial sociology, the State in Australia, oral history, Aboriginal history, Queensland historiography and environmental history. He now lives in Adelaide, and teaches in Australian Studies at Flinders University. His book Colonial Queensland was published by UQP in 1996.
