Holland, Patrick

Patrick Holland grew up in outback Queensland, where he worked as a ringer. The Long Road of the Junkmailer was shortlisted for the Commonwealth Writer’s Prize for Best First Book. His second novel, The Mary Smokes Boys (Transit Lounge, 2012), was longlisted for the 2011 Miles Franklin Award and his first collection of short stories, The Source of the Sound (Salt, 2010), won the 2010 Scott Prize. His most recent work is a collection of travel essays, Riding the Trains in Japan: travels in the sacred and supermodern East (Transit Lounge, 2011).
