Diana Giese's work across communities for libraries, museums and educational institutions, at national, state and local level, is reflected in several of her books. Since 1992, she has co-ordinated oral history projects for the National Library of Australia, including a country-wide overview of Chinese Australians, the Khmer Community in Australia, and projects on publishing, law, science and Australians of the Year. She has worked in publishing in London and Sydney, for companies large and small, including Macmillan, Oxford University Press, Harper Collins and Pandanus Books. she also edits, assesses, produces and promotes books independently, and has helped produce prize-winning memoirs and life stories. She has worked in literary journalism for major newspapers and ABC radio, and served on writers' festival and literary prize committees. Her public program work has produced videos, CDs, archives and exhibitions. Books include Astronauts, Lost Souls and Dragons (1997), and Beyond Chinatown, (1995) National Library of Australia
