Cecily Matthews

0 Titles
Cecily Matthews was born in St George, a small town in south west Queensland, in the days before television. As an only child she was never lonely; there were numerous animals to listen to the stories she liked to invent. She graduated from the University of Queensland as a Speech Therapist. Her interest in children’s books began when her own children were born, but it was many years before she began to write in earnest. After some years spent in different parts of Australia as well as overseas, Cecily Matthews now lives on the outskirts of Brisbane with her husband, two dogs, a cat, a duck, several hens and assort – often very noisy – wildlife. Apart from writing, she works in a school library and in her spare time enjoys reading, bushwalking, handcrafts and daydreaming. Cecily Matthews says the idea for Monster Magic (UQP 1996) “just popped into my head”. It is her second book for young readers. She has also written a number of short stories, as well as picture book texts.
