Bruce Beaver was born in Sydney in 1928. He is the author of four novels and eleven volumes of poetry. Beaver received the Patrick White Award in 1982, the Chistopher Brennan Award in 1983 and, in 1990, the New South Wales Literary Citation for his ‘unique and valuable contribution to Australian literature’. He died after a long illness on 15 February 2004.
