Judith Beveridge was born in London, England, 1956 and migrated to Australia in 1960. The Domesticity of Giraffes (Black Lighting Press 1987) won the Dame Mary Gilmore Award, the NSW Premier’s Award and the Victorian Premier’s Award in 1988 – a remarkable achievement for a first time published writer. Her poetry was set on NSW HSC curriculum 1993-1995 and Judith taught poetry writing at the University of Technology, Sydney, as well as at adult colleges. In 2000 she worked as poetry advisor for the journal Kalimat, which promotes Australian and Arabic literature. She co-edited the poetry anthology A Parachute of Blue (UQP 1995), and published Accidental Grace, her second collection of poetry, with UQP in 1996. She was also the guest editor of UQP\'s Best Australian Poetry anthology in 2006.
