John Borthwick is a Sydney based travel writer/photographer. He is the author of six guide books to Australia and one to Tahiti, as well as having selected and introduced The Road to Anywhere: The Travel Writings of Peter Pinney (UQP 1993). He has published hundreds of articles, principally on travel, culture and destinations in Australian and international publications. In addition to travel writing, his work on documentary films and as an adventure travel leader has taken him to many odd parts of the world. He is a fellow of the Royal Geographical Society, holds a PhD in travel literature, and considers the view of Mt Kanchenjunga from the Planters Club, Darjeeling to be one of his favourite perspectives on the planet. In 1994 UQP released The Circumference of the Knowable World.
