Michael McKernan has written extensively in the area of Australian social history, in particular charting the effects of war on Australian society. He was a senior lecturer in History at the University of New South Wales, before accepting the position of Deputy Director at the Australian War Memorial. Now working as a consultant historian, Michael McKernan is an experienced writer, reviewer, public speaker and broadcaster. His history programs on ABC Radio are a regular broadcasting highlight. The War Never Ends (UQP 2001) examines the traumas experienced by Australian men during and after their imprisonment in Japanese war camps.
